Member of the Year: Iris Fischer-McMorrow

Iris Fischer-McMorrow is a dedicated and dynamic force in both academia and the local business community. An Associate Professor in the School of Arts and Sciences at Colby-Sawyer College, she also holds a license as a small animal veterinarian.

Four years ago, she founded Fischer Arts in Chester, Vermont—a nature-inspired art gallery nestled on the green in the heart of town. Her passion for collaboration and community-building led her to help establish the Chester Women in Business group, a casual and supportive collective that meets quarterly to brainstorm, share ideas, and solve challenges. With over 30 members representing a variety of local businesses, the group has become a thriving network of innovation and encouragement.

Together, the Chester Women in Business have successfully organized two town-wide events: Starry, Starry Night in December, which featured 20 participating businesses, and now Bright, Bright Night in June. Anchored to the summer and winter solstices, these celebrations are designed to become annual traditions, bringing vibrancy and engagement to the community.

Iris is a natural leader, known for her warmth, inspiration, and dedication to strengthening connections among individuals and businesses alike. She embodies collaboration and generosity, working tirelessly to build a more connected and enriched community for all.
