💧 In the heart of the valley, the earth begins to soften, marking the arrival of Vermont’s unofficial “fifth season,” mud season. As dirt roads turn to ribbons of chocolatey mud, they act as a rustic reminder to slow your pace and let the world wait.

🌱 This time of year is when you’ll find Okemo Valley at its most intimate. The usual hum of traffic fades, replaced by the squelch of boots and the rush of snowmelt feeding the streams. There is a peaceful intermission where you can act in tandem with the landscape as it rests, breathes, and prepares for the bloom.

🌻 Find renewed energy in the sunshine and fresh air while enjoying a stroll down Main Street. Local markets and shops brim with the first tastes of the season, including fresh maple syrup, artisan cheeses, fresh-baked breads, and handcrafted gifts.

Spring Outdoor Adventures:

💧Waterfalls: The spring is PEAK waterfall season! Short trails with waterfalls are the best for springtime hikes. Check out Buttermilk Falls, Cavendish Gorge, Branch Brook Falls, & Tiny Brook Cascades. Please note that some trails may be limited to protect the paths during the muddy season.

🎣 Fishing: In the spring, the fish are hungry! Cast a line in the Black River or one of the MANY nearby lakes! Spring is prime time for trout as the waters wake up. Check out this resource for places to drop a hook.

⛳️ Golf: Enjoy the fresh greens and off-peak prices! Check the websites for Fox Run Golf Club & Crown Point Country Club to see when they will be open.

🚣 Paddling: Get out your kayak, canoe, or paddle board and go for a peaceful paddle on one of the freshly thawed lakes. Just be careful you don’t fall into the chilly water! Note that State Parks are free to use before they open, just be respectful of the land and know that there won’t be any facilities open for use.

🎿 Spring Skiing & Riding: Catch the final turns of the season at Okemo Mountain Resort & Magic Mountain before their closing day. Dance with the mountain as you glide through soft “corn” snow while you soak up the sun and enjoy the lively atmosphere of spring on the slopes.

🚲 Road & Gravel Biking: Navigate the newly thawed roads of Okemo Valley. There are so many peaceful backroads to explore in the region. Check out this guide. Please note that most Mountain Bike trails may be closed to protect the paths during the muddy season.
