On Aug 2, 1923, Vice President Calvin Coolidge was visiting hometown when President Warren Harding passed away. Coolidge’s father, Colonel John Coolidge, a notary public & justice of the peace, had the authority to swear his son into the highest office in the land as America’s 30th president. This unique lamp-lit inauguration will be commemorated at the centennial anniversary along with other events from Wed. Aug. 2 to Sat.
