Now in our 24th year, Misty Valley Books provides Chester, Vermont and surrounding towns with a bookstore that offers a varied and truly interesting selection of books, greeting cards, oriental rugs, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff members who love to read, and old-fashioned customer service. Owners Lynne and Bill Reed and staff members Kim Carson, Amanda Bourque, Jane Davis, and John Hoover are proud to continue this tradition with a Vermont bookstore.

Misty Valley Books is open every day. Check out our upcoming author events, read about the latest Indie Bound titles, or order books on line 24 hours/day. We ship books anywhere! When you shop at our Vermont bookstore, you are doing your part to support our local economy.. We now stock hand-knotted "Magic Reading Carpets", from runners to room-sized. Sit on one of these with a good book and it will take you places you've never been. Rugs from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India at remarkably attractive prices.

And remember, if you ever want to talk to a 'live' person at our bookstore, we're still here on Main Street, on the Green, in Chester, Vermont, every day, even Sundays. Please don't hesitate to call, write, or e-mail us with any of your reading needs and concerns.

Owners Lynne and Bill Reed.

SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, January 28 for New Voices 2012

New Voices, now in its 18th year, provides a venue for 5-6 newly published and promising authors to publicize their work, meet and relax with authors like themselves, and to experience presenting their work in a relaxed atmosphere.

The public is invited to ski with the authors at Grafton Ponds Saturday morning, attend the readings and book signings from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Stone Church in Chester, and attend a wine and cheese reception (cash bar) and dinner with the authors at the Fullerton Inn .

Misty Valley Books has welcomed hundreds of authors since its inception including Matthew Dicks (Something Mi sing, Milo), Hillary Jordan (Mudbound), Alex Berenson (The Faithful Spy, Ghost War), Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, The Given Day), Steve Almond (Candy Freak, Which Brings Me to You), Emily Mitchell (The Last Summer of the World), Jennifer Egan (The Invisible Circus, A Visit from the Goon Squad), Arthur Golden (Memoirs of a Geisha), James Collins (Beginner’s Greek), Gregory Maguire (Wicked), Lewis Robinson (Water Dogs), Heidi Durrow (The Girl Who Fell From the Sky), and many others.

This year’s group looks promising with confirmations from Betty Shotton, Liftoff Leadership www.liftoffleadership.com and Katharine Britton, Her Sister’s Shadow, and Naomi Benaron, Running the Rift.
