Music in the Meadow started 11 years ago when the owner of the Motel in the Meadow, Ms. Pat Budnick, decided with the help of some friends and family to do a concert to raise money for breast cancer research. Pat’s good friend had died of the disease and she wanted to do something to raise money. The first concert was a one day event with the musical performers sitting on the porch of the motel. The concert has grown to a two day event with several local musical groups, donating their time and talent. This year’s event will be held on June 22 and 23, 2013. Last year because of the concert, a raffle and various donations we were fortunate to give $6,560 to the Race for the Cure which is the largest amount raised to date. And this occurred even with a lightning storm shutting us down in the middle of the Saturday program. This is a community supported event with all monies raised being donated, we do not take any money for expenses. All of the prizes we raffle off, the food that is sold and especially the time and talent of the various musicians is all donated. We also receive free poster printing from a local business, the tent is donated, drinks that we sell, etc. This years performers will include, Travis Parker, Mark Shelton, Brendan Thomas, GB101, Backroad, Bondville Boys, Bluegrasoles, Doc T Band, and DV8.
