Christmas in Weston

The 29th Vermont Christmas Celebration will occur in the Village of Weston on Saturday, December 1st. From 10:00-5:00, villagers and visitors will experience all that a colonial Christmas has to offer, as well as a few modern amenities.

Participants can tour the village by foot or by a team of horse drawn wagons, stopping in to tour many of the open galleries, museums and inns. Children will enjoy seeing Santa at The Vermont Country Store, making ornaments at the West River Gallery or participating in many of the activities like face painting, petting zoo, story-telling and crafts at the historic Little School and Wilder Memorial Library. Adults can relax with a chair massage, a cappuccino at the Village Green Gallery, a hearty lunch at the Bryant House Restaurant and an afternoon drink at the Inn at Weston. One-of-a-kind gifts can be purchased at The Vermont Country Store and The Weston Village Shops, and the historic Weston Playhouse will host local artist and vendor such as Woodcock Farms, Peabody Mountain Apiaries and In Touch Therapeutics Massage. Raffle tickets can be purchased in the Weston Playhouse to win one of the many prizes being offered by local businesses. The 208 year-old Old Parish Church will be decorated for the season and has a full event schedule including Christmas music, a community reading of A Christmas Carol with Sam Lloyd and live music from the Nordic Harmoni Singers. The day will end with Santa leading carol singing to the Village Green for the lighting of the Weston Christmas Tree in the bandstand. Dinner will be served at the Inn at Weston and the Bryant House; Out of town visitors can rest their heads at one of the many local inns offering specials for the weekend. Your support of this event helps to sustain Just Neighbors a local non-profit volunteer organization that began by obtaining, splitting and delivering firewood to those in need. They are a valuable asset in our community and we are proud to support their efforts and hope you will also.

This event has been chosen as a “Top Ten Winter Event” by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce!

4:00 p.m. Santa leads visitors to The Green for caroling and light of the tree.

2 – The Vermont Country Store
10:00– 1:00 Visit with Santa Claus in the store
10:00– 3:45 Horse Drawn Wagon rides around the village
The Little School will be selling hot cocoa and treats
11:00-3:00 Book signing with Willem Lange author of Favor Johnson- A Christmas Story , with illustrator Bert Dodson

4- The West River Gallery
11:00-3:00 The Weston Firemen are serving up hamburgers, hot dogs and hot cocoa and chestnuts roasted on an open fire.
11:00-3:00 Paint clay Christmas tree ornaments with Cindy at her Gallery

5 – The Farrar Mansur House Museum and Mill
All day we will be offering tours and cookie decorating at an open hearth with warm apple cider. Tour this wonderful house and the Mill next door and see life as it used to be in the 1800’s

6 – The Weston Playhouse
Though out the day we will be offering: Cookie sale from the Weston Women’s Club, Peabody Mountain Apiaries offering their local honey products and  Quilt exhibit.

10:30 “Birds and Animals in Winter” stories and craft for kids

Sample delicious home made fudge as well as our many Vermont Cheeses. Get all your holiday shopping done.

11 – Weston Village Christmas Shop
Visit our store  to help transform your home into a beautiful Christmas wonderland. Everything you need to decorate your tree and home. When you stop in receive a complimentary Christmas bell and candy cane.

12 – Old Parish Church
