Chester’s Overture to Christmas 2013

Join us as we usher in the Holiday Season in Chester, Vermont.  The Overture to Christmas was voted one of the 10 Best Winter Events in Vermont.  The tradition continues with many fun activities.

MondayDecember 2nd

  • 4-5pm: Gingerbread House making Workshop for children in Grades K through 2. Fullerton Inn, 40 The Common.*

WednesdayDecember 4th

  • 4-5pm: Gingerbread House making Workshop for children in Grades 3 through 6. Fullerton Inn, 40 The Common.*

SaturdayDecember 7th 

  • 10am Scavenger Hunt begins – Card rules and maps for the hunt will be sent home in the Chester-Andover Elementary School (CAES) Dec. 6th Beating Drum and will be available at participating merchants. Rules also listed on the back of this card.
  • 10am-noon: Holiday Crafts and Stories. Costume making for the Parade of Presents. CAES, 72 Main St.*
  • 10am-4pm: St. Luke’s Annual Christmas Tea & Sale. St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 313 Main St.$
  • 2-4pm Children’s Musical Story time with Paul & Norma Ippolito. Hugging Bear Inn, 244 Main St.*
  • 2-4pm Christmas Puppet Show, Whiting Library, 117 Main St. *
  • 2-4pm Live Nativity, First Baptist Church of Chester, 162 Main St. *
  • 4pm Santa and Mrs. Claus Arrival accompanied by the Parade of Presents. From CAES, 72 Main St., to the Fullerton Inn, 40 The Common.*
  • 4:30pm Lighting of the Town Tree with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Elves, and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Fullerton Inn. Cookies, cocoa, books, and candy canes for all good children.*
  • 7:30pm Springfield Community Chorus. Free Concert. First Baptist Church of Chester, 162 Main St.*

Saturday, December 14th

  • Noon: Annual Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner.  CAES, 72 Main St.*
  • 3-5pm Town Party MacLoaminn’s Scottish Pub, lite fare served, $5 or $15 for family. Drawing of winners of the Scavenger Hunt.

Rules for the Scavenger Hunt : 

Cards will be punched during normal Merchant business hours. When your card is completely punched bring it to the Pub and place in Scavenger Jar.   The drawing of completed cards will take place at MacLoaminn’s on Saturday during the Town Party Shops near and along the Green will be open late both weekends. Please look for the lighted luminaries.
